- Compare the sizes, then download the result.
Example
- A 4000px photo at 70% quality typically shrinks by 40–70%.
- Setting max width to 1280 is a good balance for blog posts.
- Use 85% quality when detail matters more than file size.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this image compressor lossless?
No. It re-encodes to JPEG, which is lossy. Higher quality settings keep more detail at the cost of a larger file.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Compression uses your browser's Canvas API. Your image is never sent anywhere.
Why is the compressed file sometimes larger?
This can happen with small or already-optimised PNG images, which have few JPEG artifacts to remove. Try a lower quality setting or skip downscaling.
Does transparency survive compression?
No. JPEG does not support an alpha channel, so transparent areas are filled with white. Use a PNG tool if you need to keep transparency.
